Review:

The movie is astonishing, the plot too was intriguing. The cast involved were great and so was the directing and the cinematography; But one thing that stands out the most is the acting especially the one by Steve Carell (John du Pont).

We have always believed that Steve Carell is one of the best actors but in this movie he absolutely outdid himself. After watching this movie it made us count Steve Carell as one of our favorite actors. In this movie we saw the aerent side of the characters that he usually plays. In fact it was completely the opposite of them but he was still able to blow our mind with his performance. Mark Ruffalo (Dave Schultz) and Channing Tatum (Mark Schultz) were also fabulous.

You can see they did a lot of hard work to get the shape and body of a wrestler. Their body movements and their body's rigidity were so accurate to a wrestler's body. Their acting was so good that the characters never had to speak to express their discomfort or anger or such emotions.

This movie was clearly able to express the emotions of jealousy and discomfort even amongst the people who you love the most. Steve Carell played the schizophrenia of the his character beautifully. The way John du Pont interacts with other people really seemed to highlight his ability. Even the sudden bursts of harsh actions also make the movie seem so realistic.

The plot progression was also excellent. How the brothers drift apart and how John played a role in breaking the bond was clearly signified as later the brothers realise it and try to break away from the clutches of John. Even the way John’s relations with his mother and the other wrestlers and how no one respected him played a huge role in the rise of conflict that happens in the end of the movie. The screenplay and the way the story unfolds gradually was also pretty good and the directing by Bennett Miller really complements it.

The only thing that we found a bit disturbing was the sound mixing and how the volume of the music seemed to kind of overwhelm what was going on in the scene. And some times we felt that the dialogues were a bit too soft for us to be able to hear them.

But all in all the movie was fabulous and this might just be one of our most favorite films.
